While in Venice, we visited a local winery for a one of a kind wine tasting experience! At Vignaluna Winery, we feasted on a homemade meal paired with wine, and were accompanied with opera singing! For someone who isn’t seasoned on how wines complement meals, it was a great experience hearing how the different wines pair with food from the winemaker’s perspective! An Authentic Italian Winery Experience at Vignaluna Winery
Vignaluna Winery
The Vignaluna Winery is located in the fertile Veneto region of Italy. It was short 35 minute drive from Mestre. So this winery is a great option for a day trip from Venice! Interestingly, the Raboso and Verduzzo grapes used in Vignaluna wines only grow in the Veneto region, giving their wine an exclusive taste. We got a tour of the vineyard and where the grapes are processed and fermented. They make both red and white wines with their grapes.

For the Lunardelli family, making wine has been in the family for three generations. The current winemaker, Giovanni Lunardelli, received degrees from the State Technical Farming Institute in Conegliano before becoming a fully-fledged enologist in 1998.
Vignaluna’s philosophy is to encapsulate the culture of the area through their wine. This winery uses local and family tradition to create unique and memorable wines!
Our Group Dinner Experience
During our visit to Vignaluna Winery, we toured the vineyard and winemaking facility. The vineyard was absolutely beautiful! The sun was just starting to set and the light was stunning for photographs!
After our tour, we were served a four-course dinner, where each course was paired with one of their wines! It was interesting to listen to the winemaker discuss the flavors in each of the wines and why they pair well with the course. Since this is such a traditional winery, the family does not speak English, so our tour guide translated for us!
To our surprise, the founder of the winery, Luigi Lunardelli, joined us for dinner. In addition to being a winemaker in his youth, he was also an opera singer! During our meal, he sang for us! His voice was absolutely beautiful and you could feel each note as he sang.
Of course, after dinner, we had the chance to purchase some of the wine we tasted! We decided to purchase the prosecco. It’s a sweeter, white wine with a bit of bubbly. If you’re looking for a true, authentic Veneto Italian winery tour, definitely give Vignaluna winery a visit!
