Staying at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun was our first experience with an all-inclusive hotel and it lived up to all of our expectations! As an all-inclusive resort in Cancun, you have access to all the food, all the amenities, and all the beautiful white sandy beaches while staying at the Moon Palace Cancun! What it’s like to Stay at the Moon Palace Sunrise
The Moon Palace Resort is actually three resorts in one! We stayed at the Moon Palace Sunrise. The Moon Palace Grand is the most exclusive of the three, which has a separate booking website and amenities. The Nizuc and Sunrise resorts are very similar and are just as luxurious and beautiful at the Grand. If you’re staying at the Sunrise or Nizuc, you need to have a day pass to visit the Grand. As a guest, you can visit between resorts, but like most all-inclusive resorts, there are different levels of wristbands that give you different perks at the resort. Some of these perks include access to exclusive parts of the pool area or a particular bar. But overall, you have access to almost everything as a quest. Make sure to check your wristband so you know what you have access to! During our say, we didn’t have the most exclusive level, and we didn’t feel singled out at all in terms of access to parts of the resorts. There was honestly nothing we were disappointed with! We didn’t even feel the need to leave the Sunrise resort!
The one feature of the resort we appreciated was safety and security. To enter the resort property, you have to show proof of your stay, which made us feel very safe.

Our Take on All-Inclusive Resorts
For our first experience at an all-inclusive resort, we loved it! It was much different from anything we had experienced before while traveling. It was very convenient having everything you could possibly need while traveling all in one place. If you didn’t want to leave the resort, you wouldn’t have to for anything!
When we travel, we love having the local experience. With an all-inclusive resort, you are very separated from the local culture. However, you do have the option to go beyond the resort to have more unique travel experiences. We encourage travelers to embrace new cultures and experience new places. So if you’re considering an all-inclusive vacation, consider booking some excursions outside of the resort! Keep reading to see how you can do so at the Moon Palace Resort Cancun!
Moon Palace Cancun Staff
All of the staff we encountered at the Moon Palace Resort were incredibly hospitable, friendly, and welcoming. Everyone went above and beyond to make us feel at home and comfortable.
Moon Palace Cancun Location
The Moon Palace Cancun is conveniently located within a 15-minute drive of the Cancun airport! This made it very nice for airport transfers, and there are no resorts nearby. This made the property very private and quiet.
However, the resort is located close to a chemical plant, so outside there were days there was a sulfuric, eggy smell in the air. But to us, it wasn’t the worst thing. The whole property so was beautiful and the smell came and went. We don’t want to complain about something that is truly out of the resort’s control.
Moon Palace Sunrise Rooms
The room we stayed in was the “superior deluxe garden view” room! The room was decorated beautifully and included great amenities. The one feature that really surprised us about the room was the liquor tap by the fridge.
Each of the rooms includes wifi access, a smart tv, room service, CHI hair and bath products (including straightening and hairdryer), an in-room whirlpool tub, balcony, and complimentary wine! All of the rooms are smoke-free, which we really appreciated! The room was incredibly comfortable for our stay.
Since the resort is so large, there are always staff driving around of golf carts to take you places if you want a lift. This was very nice when we had to transport our luggage.
Can you drink the water at the Moon Palace Resort?
Yes, there is a water treatment plant on site. However, we didn’t need to drink from the tap because our water bottles were refreshed in the room every day and bottled water is readily available from all of the restaurants and bars.

Moon Palace Sunrise Restaurants and Bars
All of the restaurants are delicious! Some of them require reservations and dress codes, so check your resort information packet to see the details!
Bugambilias
Bugambilias is a Mexican cuisine restaurant featuring breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets. The food here was delicious, especially the desserts! The Tres Leches cake was amazing! Throughout our stay, the menus did change slightly, but there were plenty of options for all palettes.
Cafe Bistro
This cafe is located conveniently in the lobby of the Moon Palace Sunrise and includes baked goods, coffee beverages, gelato, crepes, and sandwiches. This was a great place if you wanted to grab a snack without being seated at a restaurant.
Moon Palace Sunrise Pool
The pool area at Moon Palace Sunrise was gorgeous! There is plenty of seating and throughout the day they host family-friendly games and activities.
Moon Palace Cancun Beaches
The beach was our favorite part of our stay at the Moon Palace Sunrise! It was incredibly private and the view was beautiful.
Spa Services
During our visit to the Moon Palace Sunrise, we got manicures and pedicures at the Awe Spa. The women working were so kind and made the appointment a relaxing experience. The Awe Spa included much more than just mani/pedis. They also offered massages, facials, and hair services.
Travel Planning Services
The Moon Palace Resort also included travel planning services. Here, you can book excursions and activities and airport transfers. If you’re interested in golfing or booking at the Awe Spa, you can do it all at the travel planning services office.
Conference Venue
During our visit to the Moon Palace Cancun, we were there for an academic conference. The conference venue itself was beautiful and great for a mid-sized conference. This hotel is definitely well-equipped to host large events!
Shopping
There are a few shopping options inside the Moon Palace Sunrise including a convenience store with all of your resort needs, a jewelry store, and a souvenir shop.
